Deep purple-red leaves with delightful earthy flavor.
Looking for that perfect lettuce to complement a rich autumn feast? In Merlot, you'll find deep garnet hues with a brilliant sparkle. The rich, earthy flavor belies a distinct nose of black cherry with herbaceous undertones. Fresh and full-bodied and cloaked in a subtle, ruffled velvet robe, Merlot's mouth feel delights. It is well structured, supple, and smooth. A deep purple beauty, this recent vintage is sure to please the whole table. (Note: unlike other merlots, this one does not improve with age; harvest young!)

I planted a few Merlot lettuce seeds in my Aero Garden in the Fall and have eaten this lettuce in salads all winter long. It is so delicious tasting and the green and burgundy colors of its large leaves makes it so beautiful to look at. It really has become my favorite lettuce to grow and to eat!
I am planning to start my seeds this week, as it is only zone 4 and still winter here. I will start some of the lettuce, and move into the tomatoes after that. I'll keep you posted on how they do, but the packaging is wonderful!
Lettuce was veru crisp and had a bitter taste which i loved...
Top shelf , pick it fresh and enjoy . Does extremely well in early season . I planted this when there was still frost in the ground and it withstood many spring frosts . Will order more and plant even more than last year .
Excellent germination and sprouting,
Plants are 3 inches tall and vigorous.
I’ll be eating Merlot salad greens late fall snd winter.
Eat This!
I'm writing only because I just noticed that there are no reviews of this brilliant lettuce! We received a pack of seeds as a present several years ago (yes, our friends know we love to grow what we eat). Not only is this lettuce incredibly beautiful in the garden, the slightly bitter flavor adds incredible depth to any salad. Grow this! Eat this!
