Bridge to Paris Pepper

Capsicum annuum

Certified Organic

Elegant, large, long sweet peppers. Top performer!

The commercial seed trade can be fickle, introducing and dropping varieties with little notice. One variety that gained favor with a local farming couple, a hybrid pepper called "La Paris," fell victim to this. Determined to keep the variety alive, they resolved to produce their own seed. Since it was a hybrid–not a stable, open-pollinated variety–they had to spend time untangling it like a knotted string of pearls. The result? A productive, delicious variety very close to the hybrid La Paris, but in open-pollinated form. The seeds then traveled with the farm's interns until they settled at Phillies Bridge Farm, who passed the seeds onto their local seed library. This perfected pepper has been selected as one of Glynwood's Kitchen Cultivars.

Plants are large (up to 36' in height) and loaded with big peppers. The flavor and texture are first-rate: extremely sweet when ripe, with thick bell pepper-like skin. A handful of plants will provide plenty of pepper flesh for fresh eating and freezing.

About the artist
Artwork by Robin Wessman. In this oil painting, symbols of this pepper's story abound. A levitating pepper casts a sliced shadow on a table that is suggestive of the Arc de Triomphe. Out of an open drawer dangle strings of pearls, ready to be untangled.

Experienced 0 germination here. All my other peppers did fine, close to 100% germination. Something wrong with this pack!

Hi Debi, Thanks for the review. We did have a germination issue with Bridge to Paris pepper seed lot # 01-2216. We pulled those seeds off the shelf, but a few may have gone out before discovering the problem. We would be happy to refund you and any other customer who may have received this lot code by mistake. Please accept our apology for the inconvenience.

Beautiful and reliable

Bridge to Paris performed beautifully as usual. It’s wonderful to have an OP pepper that produces up here in N VT!! I have a friend who always asks for plants for her garden.

Disappointed in these Seeds

I was disappointed that the Bridge to Paris seeds I bought from you produced almost nothing this year.
I started the peppers in my green house in March and transplanted small plants during the last week of May. Only one plant bore fruit before the first frost in late September.

Can’t wait to get these growing (end of May). They’ll be eye catchers, taste and color!

I grow commercially as a side hobby. I started more than 1000 seedlings this season and not one of two packets germinated. Everything else I grew, 20 types of tomatoes, 6 types of eggplants, and 9 types of bell perppers germinated.

Hi Trisha, Thanks for your review. We are sorry to hear your Bridge To Paris seeds didn't germinate for you. If it's too late in the growing season, we would happily offer you a refund and a discount code to use on your next order. If you ever have any trouble with germination, please reach out to us at mail@hudsonvalleyseed.mom or call us at 845-204-8769 One of our customer service representatives will take care of you. Thanks, Team HVSC

Absolutely my favorite pepper grown. Last year it was the one that kept producing through the hot Houston summer even when everything else was struggling. I grew it in a large grow bag — literally just picked the last few that came through from a warm spell before it got cold again. And while these are amazing once they turn red — they’re delicious and crispy when green as well. Totally replacing my bell peppers!

This is a favorite of mine to grow. I have been growing this delicious prolific pepper since 2017 when I found Hudson Valley Seed Company at the Heirloom Expo in Santa Rosa California. I highly recommend this pepper. You will love jt

Prolific and sweet
These peppers are producing in my garden right now. They take a while to ripen to red (but don't they all when we're watching?) but they're prolific. I harvested the first few a few days ago and they are delicious! Crunchy and super sweet. They are perfectly hollow, great for stuffing! Every seed germinated. I would highly recommend these!
